Each National Estuarine Research Reserve develops a site profile synthesizing knowledge about its physical, historical, social and biological characteristics to guide research activities. This digital site profile helps users orient to the Lake Superior Reserve and understand its context.
GUIDE CASE STUDY: To help elevate the cultural significance of plants and preserve their knowledge, Indigenous knowledge holders agreed to advise a project team as they developed a planting guide for the Gichi-gami basin. As discussions began, the team quickly discovered differing expectations about what and how Indigenous knowledge would inform the final guide.

This project overview describes a 2016 Collaborative Research project that assessed the ecosystem services of shellfish farming in the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve.
These datasets are from an intensive field sampling in and adjacent to aquaculture operations in North Carolina, concentrating on wild shellfish resources and the physical and chemical environment, to assess ecosystem services and potential impacts of the oyster farms.
This resource contains the presenter slides, Q&A responses, recording, and presenter bios from the October 2020 webinar Decision Support for Siting of Shellfish Aquaculture.
This factsheet summarizes the results of a project that studied small-scale changes around oyster farms and assessed larger-scale ecosystem-level alterations to provide a local assessment of ecosystem services of shellfish aquaculture.
This slide deck summarizes findings from a collaborative research that looked at the ecological impacts and ecosystem service benefits of oyster farms in North Carolina.
