Lesson Plans for Spreading the Seeds of Estuary Health

Through a 2017 - 2020 Science Transfer project, five southeastern reserves worked together to expand efforts to get schools involved in wetland restoration projects. Building on the success of two existing programs the reserves worked with 18 schools and helped classes grow Spartina plants and then transplant the plants into degraded marsh sites or stormwater ponds. These hands-on projects provided a great opportunity for teaching about estuarine ecology and the scientific process
