Each National Estuarine Research Reserve develops a site profile synthesizing knowledge about its physical, historical, social and biological characteristics to guide research activities. This digital site profile helps users orient to the Lake Superior Reserve and understand its context.

The project transferred conservation science from the 2021 New Hampshire Coastal Watershed Conservation Plan to help protect and restore estuarine systems in the Piscataqua watershed region using an ecosystem services approach.

Through a 2020 science transfer project, the Lake Superior and Heʻeia reserves and partners brought renewed attention to reserve site profiles and supported the development of a modernized format that better aligns with and boosts the impact of reserve programs.
