This resource contains the recording for the student symposium titled "Ecosystem Dynamics & Trends Across Seven National Estuarine Research Reserves," a series of presentations given as part of the 2023 catalyst project "Synthesizing long-term SWMP datasets to quantify estuarine ecosystem dynamics and identify trends along an ecological gradient."
Tool |
This toolkit organizes and consolidates content from a combination of literature reviews, SWMP data interpretation, and interviews and exhibit evaluations at multiple reserves into a comprehensive package of resources that is accessible to all education coordinators and exhibit designers in the Reserve System.

Webinar Summary |

This resource contains the presenter slides, Q&A responses, recording, and presenter bios from the May 2021 webinar Can Oyster Aquaculture Help Restore Coastal Water Quality?

Tool |

This guide is designed to be a resource for current and potential oyster growers that want to understand and maximize the water quality benefits of their aquaculture operations.

Project Overview |

This project overview describes a 2017 Collaborative Research project that explores how oyster aquaculture practices may be used to remediate water quality in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Data |

This resource includes links to five datasets generated by a collaborative research project that measured nitrogen removal from oyster aquaculture using complement biogeochemistry and genetic methods.

Journal Article |

This article, published in Frontiers in Marine Science in 2021, describes work done as part of a 2017-2020 collaborative research project conducted at Waquoit Bay Reserve in Massachusetts. The article explores the impacts of oyster aquaculture on nitrogen removal by examining bacterial processes in sediments underlying three of the most common aquaculture methods that vary in the proximity of oysters to the sediments.
