About this resource
This two-part document is a guide for Florida homeowners considering installing a living shoreline on their property who believe their project is exempt from state and federal permits. Part 1 provides assistance to submit a Request for Verification of Exemption form to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Part 2 covers the federal permit application managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, a step which may not be necessary if the Department of Environmental Protection issued both a federal and state permit for the project.
This resource was developed as part of a collaborative research project that monitored and evaluated coastal restoration designs at the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
