Spreading the Seeds of Estuary Health

Cover Image

Restoration can rebuild degraded salt marshes and tidal creeks and enhance the services they provide to coastal communities. When students are involved in restoration programs, they become estuarine stewards while learning standards-aligned science concepts. Expanding on the success of previous student-driven restoration programs, Spreading the Seeds of Estuary Health furthered understanding of estuarine habitat restoration, engaged students in smooth cordgrass restoration, and shared K-12 classroom resources with National Estuarine Research Reserves and partner educators throughout the Southeast United States.
