In the summer of 2018, the Great Bay Reserve received NERRS Science Collaborative capacity building funds to assess the need for outreach related to the 2006 Land Conservation Plan and goals for that outreach. Following that project, the New Hampshire Chapter of The Nature Conservancy secured funding in 2019 and 2020 to complete the GIS analysis needed to update the 2006 Land Conservation Plan, guided by the goals established during the capacity grant. This project facilitated the transfer of knowledge from the updated plan to intended users in the region through a focused outreach effort, which included a needs assessment, formal knowledge transfer workshops, and a technical assistance program.

Materials developed and used for outreach during the project can be found below.

  • Funding Need two-pager: This product was created per a request made at the first Advisory Committee meeting. Land Trusts and state agencies used this two-pager in Congressional visits to the NH Delegation in Washington DC in the spring of 2022.
  • Plan Overview two-pager: This product was shared with webinar attendees and technical assistance project participants to provide an overview of the NH Coastal Watershed Conservation Plan at a glance.
  • Overview presentation: This 20-minute video provides an overview of the 2021 NH Coastal Watershed Conservation Plan, what maps/data are available and how to use them, and what information is provided on the www.connect-protect.org website.
  • Technical assistance summary report: This report summarizes Outreach Team support through the project’s technical assistance program to six communities and two regional land trusts.
