Drastic global declines in oyster reefs have resulted in significant native oyster restoration efforts on North America ’s East Coast, but the West Coast ’s native Olympia oyster has received comparatively little attention. Interest in the Olympia oyster has increased over the past decade and dozens of restoration projects are underway from Baja Columbia to British Columbia.

A 2018 catalyst project brought scientists, restorationists, and communities together to form the Native Olympia Oyster Collaborative, a coastwide network enhancing communication, coordination, and information sharing to improve restoration outcomes.
